Gift for Life's 25th Anniversary Party for Life fundraiser will take place on Monday, February 6, 2017, from 6:30pm to 10pm at The Boathouse in Central Park in NYC, during the NY NOW show.

The event will feature cocktails, New York fare, a silent auction, dancing and more; and Jan Van Der Lande, founder of the gift company Kikkerland, will be presented with the Chuck Yancy Lifetime Achievement Award. Tickets are $125; and sponsorships begin at $500. Proceeds support the work of DIFFA and its continued efforts to fight HIV/AIDS. For more information and for tickets, click here.

Douglas Self is GFL Honoree at ICON HONORS

Douglas Self, founder of the rep agency jdouglas, was the recipient of the Gift and Home Trade Association/Gift for Life Honor of Excellence at the seventh annual ICON HONORS gala, which took place at Atlanta's Fox Theatre on July 14 during The Atlanta International Gift & Home Furnishings Market. The ICON HONORS celebrate global innovation in the home and gift industry; and the GHTA/GFL Honor of Excellence recognizes the recipient's noteworthy career achievements.

Chavez For Charity Receives GFL Award at REAs

Chavez for Charity was honored with the Gift for Life Industry Achievement Award during Gifts and Decorative Accessories' 65th annual Retailer Excellence Awards on August 21 at The Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers in New York City. The award recognizes overall excellence and contribution to the gift and home industry. Chavez for Charity – a leading fashion jewelry and accessories company – donates 25% of profits to charitable causes worldwide. Since its founding in 2013, the company has raised more than $1 million for its partner charities, which includes nearly $63,000 in donations made to GFL through Chavez's cause-marketing program.

Las Vegas Market's "Up on the Roof" Raises $9,500 for GFL

The Las Vegas Market's sixth annual "Up on the Roof" gala raised $9,500 to benefit Gift for Life. Held on August 1 during the Summer Las Vegas Market, the event drew nearly 300 supporters to the event, which included great food, cocktails and live music. The gala raised money both through ticket sales as well as a silent auction that included many unique experiential items as well as Vegas-focused prizes.

Archipelago's Perennials Collection Benefits GFL

Archipelago Botanicals is donating $5,000 to Gift for Life/DIFFA as a result of its Perennials Collection cause-marketing program conducted during the recent summer trade-show season. Archipelago's limited Perennials Collection consists of five floral blends: Gardenia, Hyacinth, Jasmine, Lavender and Sweet Pea – all poured using a premium wax blend in a white glass jar candle and adorned in a floral box with a simple button closure.

GFL Welcomes New Board Members

Industry editors Dayna Fields and Kat Krassner have joined Gift for Life's board of directors. Fields, managing editor of Giftware News magazine, is new to the board; Krassner, co-founder/co-editor of PRESENT magazine, is a returning board member.

Spotlight on DIFFA Grantee: Ali Forney Center

The mission of the NYC-based Ali Forney Center Center is to protect LGBTQ youths from the harms of homelessness by providing housing and support services to help them thrive and prepare for independent living. With DIFFA’ency Housing Center received 3 meals daily—this helpes support, residents of their Astoria Emergd them manage their health and well-being while living with HIV/AIDS. This grant will help support over 20,000 meals this year.

Founded in 2002 by Carl Siciliano with just six beds in a church basement, the organization has grown to become the largest agency dedicated to LGBTQ homeless youth in the U.S. – assisting nearly 1,400 young people annually.
